Plastic surgeon to tour Africa to provide health services
Patients with deformities from birth, accidents and other related diseases from Africa, that need reconstructive surgery will have a relief as their hope will be restored in April from a plastic surgeon’s visit. This will be as a result of Dr. Michael K. Obeng, a plastic surgeon’s African tour where he will be in Johannesburg and Nairobi in April. He will also lead a R.E.S.T.O.R.E mission to Gabon in June.
Dr. Michael K. Obeng, who is also philanthropist and health consultant based in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, will be in Johannesburg, South Africa from 8th to 14th April 2019 and in Nairobi, Kenya for two days, from 16th to 17th April 2019.
R.E.S.T.O.R.E Worldwide offers free plastic surgery and related medical services to children and adults in various African countries with disfiguring deformities from birth, accidents and diseases involving not only the head and neck region, but also the extremities, trunk and breasts. The Foundation also educates local healthcare personnel on how to execute complex surgeries. Since 2008 more than 500 surgeries have been successfully completed.
Dr. Obeng whose visit aims at strengthening partnerships and synergies has donated more than USD $300, 000 to facilitate R.E.S.T.O.R.E Worldwide efforts. The Foundation is intent on building a footprint of surgical expertise on the African continent.
He is the only African plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills and he consults governments regularly to strategically advise on health policy related issues. He is currently advising the African Union on their approach to the typhoid outbreak in Zimbabwe.
